I am reading my blog and something struck me. My blog feels like an advertisement in Singapore...u know...the "hear only the good things" advert (the one with the lady who can't drive but can only hear that she's driving like an F1 driver, and the fat boy who can't hold his tennis racket properly). So u "read only the good things" on my blog
So let's set things straight once and for all. It is seriously boring and exhausting here once u settle in. I'm getting a really bad sunburn, I have cracks, calluses and blisters on my feets that makes every step a torture, I have rashes on my body and it's a killer with the flaking skin cause by the burnt, I make only making enough money to cover my spending here, and i dun get proper food everyday. HOWEVER, here lies the "fun"...the routine life of an American in Virginia and making the best of and finding fun in the things u do.
The Americans are very generous with their praises. Over the past week, I've received positive comments (and actions) as a form of gratitude.
There was this African American lady who slapped my butt at the tidal wave bay and thanked me by name,
Another lady who came over, expressed her gratitude to the park because she left her things unattended for hrs and they were still there. She couldn't find anyone to thank so she came to me while i was guarding barefoot beach...and i passed on the message to my supervisor (seriously, i think she should have thanked the guests for not taking her stuff, not the employees in the park)
And there was this young lady who commented that I sounded English and have a beautiful voice.
So as u can see, no doubt we are working for money, but it's all these little tidings that happens everyday that helps sweeten the experience here...these are the really priceless experience, which makes the amount i spent to get here looks like pittance.

PS: I only have one more week on the job...will be leaving real soon...feeling slightly emotional abt it
