Trip to Richmond, capital of Virginia (Part 1)

2 Parts cos it's gonna be lengthy and i'm pretty exhausted.

The trip to Richmond starts on Friday night. Initially, the plan was to leave on Sat morning and come back on Sat night...but as we all know, man proposes, God disposes.

There happen to be a welcome party for all new employees on Friday, with free food, rides, loud music and lots of fun in the amusement park. Joined my friends on the drop tower again...but the rides are getting kinda boring for me. I admit that i was behaving like a typical Singaporean...I had 4 Hotdog buns. Did some mass dance as well (This time, i did not require any external motivation...and it's called the cupid shuffle) and just basically hang out, chill, chit chat and have fun.

So Ben (new friend), was chatting with this supervisor, and apparently, he lives in Richmond. He offered his room out to us that night and offered to bring us around. My mom warned me against hitch-hiking and accepting favours...but she's in Singapore;) So went back, took a quick shower and off we went to his home

He was easily driving over 120 km/h and we shared abt Singapore...how the speed limit is only 90, the cost of gas. The cool thing abt him is his illustrious career. Being joining, he was an escort for Barack Obama, with access to the White House and his personal limousine and chopper. Can u imagine working for Barack Obama, the most powerful man in the world?!!!

Where we slept...very decent place for $900 a month. There are 2 other rooms and a kitchen as well.

A painting by Vincent Van Gogh at his house...starry night

Look at how pretty their mailboxes are...small, cute and antique-looking

LOOK AT THE SIGNATURE ON IT!!!

Thought it was kinda interesting that he has something like this framed up in his house

So he drove us around Richmond, bringing us to areas like the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), some scenic spot at the top of the hill and to all the monuments in the city. And he brought us for supper...MILKSHAKE. It was really good, but the serving was pretty overwhelming. I couldn't finish it but he was egging me on...it's not polite to leave food behind. So i forced everything down...totally regretted it. Halfway through...I had to throw up. Hop out of his car and went over to the bin...and out came the milkshake. That was totally embarrassing!!! There was a group of bikers that rode past and they were screaming "GIVE HIM MORE" and my American friend was reply "BUT IT'S ONLY MILKSHAKE". The embarrassment factor just shot through the roof. There i was, vomiting in front of someone i barely know for 2 hrs, and the Americans there thought i was vomiting due to Alcohol...i should have stuff my head into the bin as well....EMBARRASSING TO THE ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM!!!

The cafe we went too...got a bit scared cos it looked kinda sleazy. It's actually a hang out for VCU students

The culprit responsible for all my embarrassment...

So we went back to his apartment after that...watch some shows and turned in for the night, in Richmond, in an American apartment

To be continued...

Mark the Faceless (cos i threw all my face away together with the puke:(((

PS: But the Milkshake was really good...had another one the next day:)
