It's crazy! The journey to Virginia is nothing short of torturous. First is a 7hr flight from Changi Airport to Japan, Narita, then another 12 hrs from Japan Narita to Atlanta and finally 2 hrs from Atlanta to Richmond. Can u imagine how my poor ass felt?
Narita Airport
Atlanta Airport
I find this sign very amusing...YIELD OR DIE. Something u see in medieval time after a knight defeats another knight and points his lance at the throat and says "Yield"
Reminds me of the roadrunner...Beep Beep!
Newspaper dispenser! Sometime when i watch English drama, they always have these at the roadside where people just take a copy and go. So excited to see one for real...SUAKU!
This is actually a very beautiful view, but my Iphone let me down. The left half of the picture shows an orange hue while the other half is clear why sky. Not to mention the hovering dark clouds and the clouds below.
Talking abt feelings, the initial confusion and paranoia is now gone. Heard so much abt the notorious US custom and even the Singapore immigration warned that i might get deported backto Singapore. So thankful that the checks were thorough, but still pretty efficient. Perhaps holding a Singapore passport does help speed up the custom checks. Now, i just can't look forward to starting work and interacting with all the aliens around me
I would say the in-flights meals are pretty good, wide range of entertainment...watched "Never let me go", "127 Hours", "Dexter" and "Spiderman 2".
Being to these few airports make me realised how good Changi really is. I always thought Changi was just another airport till u see a few others in a row. Narita's was so dull and cold, the US custom in Atlanta was borderlining on being hostile and there wasn't even a single soul in Richmond airport when i arrived at 9pm.
Reached Kings Dominion at around 1030pm, the roads were very very dark. The room was in a frakkin mess, our cupboards were hoarded by our roommates and the bed was dusty. I've slept in worse conditions before so it was just "suck it up and slp" for me.
My room...sadly. So messy, with freezing cold air-con and me taking the upper bed. I ALWAYS FALL OFF THE BED!!!
Morning proved a different challenge. Everything is on the opposite side. Had trouble trying to cross the roads, needing to pay attention that the traffic is coming from the opposite direction. It's become so 2nd nature in Singapore that watching from traffic coming from the opp direction requires certain focus and constant reminders from myself. Worst of all...there's only Burger King within walking distance. Will be getting milk, cereal and biscuits from Walmart later
My block
Another thing which i am very excited to see. This is a mail box rite? Unlike the Singapore one where u have 50+ or so metal letter boxes together. Reminds me of some romantic love story where they put their love letters into mail boxes like these. In Singapore, they hang food outside ur door and scare u. haha
Having Fun!
Mark
PS: Did i mention how much i hate those self, automated flushing toilet system at the Atlanta airport. Shall not bother with the explicit, minute details.
I hope Walmart lives up to its reputation...lowest price
And lastly, what does touring around the world means, if u have no one to share it with...:(
